Puppy Dog Cake
with Meat and Vegetables

A meat puppy dog cake recipe is a clever way to help every dog-mom get healthy vegetables into their dogs diet. The best part is that they won't even know it.

You can alternate the different types of vegetables for variety. For example you could add green beans, broccoli or spinach.

MEAT Dog Cake?

Another benefit to this recipe is that if your vet has approved vitamins or minerals, you can add them to the dog cake right before serving, and they too will go unnoticed by your little carnivore.

You can easily make this meat puppy dog cake recipe and divide it into a muffin tin to make dog cupcakes for your next dog party.

Why not roll the mixture into mini meatballs for dog training treats.

Are you and your dog watching her waistline? Then change the meat to extra lean beef, chicken or turkey. You can also mix and match these three types of meat a different taste and texture.

Even though this recipe seems similar to a meat loaf, please avoid adding ketchup. Review the guide to dog treat ingredients to understand why the added salt, sugar and onion powder in ketchup does not make it a very good choice as dog treat icing.

What does make a great choice for frosting is our mashed potato dog treat icing recipe. It will make any meat dog treat more festive.

You can easily double or even triple this recipe once you know it is a hit with your dog. The mixture freezes quite well, too.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup brown rice
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas, thawed
  • 1 med. potato, shredded, no green parts, see foods poisonous to dogs for more information
  • 2 medium carrots, shredded
  • 1 celery stalk, roughly chopped
  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
Instructions:
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Use cooking spray to grease the loaf pan.
  3. Cook rice according to package, omitting salt and fat. Let cool.
  4. In a large bowl stir the peas and next 5 ingredients (through eggs) with a wooden spoon. To thoroughly combine you may need to use your hands.
  5. Next add olive oil, rolled oats and cooled rice to the vegetable and meat mixture.
  6. Spread mixture into the loaf pan.
  7. Firmly pat down the meat mixture into the pans.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Cool completely on a wire rack.

Refrigerate the amount you will use within a week. Freeze the remainder. You may want to slice the loaf into individual serving sizes before freezing for easier thawing and enjoyment later. For more information, read our tips and techniques on how to store homemade dog treats.

There are so many nutritious ways to make this meat puppy dog cake. Change up the types of vegetables and even the choice of meat for nearly endless choices. With a meat cake this good, your dog will look forward to eating all of her vegetables.
