Three questions about the banana dog treat icing

Hi. Does this icing harden, how long will it last and does it need refrigeration? Thank you!

Chef's Answer ~ No, this dog treat icing will not dry hard. It is a fresh frosting type topping that is meant to be served right away.

The icing should keep fresh in the refrigerator, in a tightly sealed container for about a week. You will want to put a layer of plastic wrap directly on top of the frosting because the bananas will begin to oxidize once they are mashed. If they are exposed to air for an extended period of time they will begin to turn brown.

Yes, this icing needs to be kept in the refrigerator or made and used to decorate a dog cake that will be served within an hour.

I hope that helps! :)
