What other frozen vegetable mixes could be used?

by Misty

What other frozen vegetable mixes can be used?

Chef's Answer ~ The only other common vegetable mix that I can think of is one that has corn, carrots and green beans (or sometimes green peas). This would be a great substitution for these dog treats. Use the same 3/4 cup when subbing one for the other.

Any frozen vegetable mix that has dog safe vegetables would be a good switch for these treats.

California Veggie Mix - Fat Dog Cookie

by Sue

My question is regarding the California mix. The only "mix" I know of is frozen, in the veggie section of the market. Any other references?

Chef's Answer ~ Yes, the mix used in this dog treat recipe is frozen. You could use a 1/4 cup each of broccoli, cauliflower & carrots if you can't find this specific mix.

I hope this helps. Happy Dog Treat Baking! :)

Salad in a dog treat
by: Anonymous

I have read articles before that say baking powder should never be given to dogs - can I leave it out?

Chef's Answer ~ Yes, you can. From the research I've done, you should not give your dog straight baking powder. If you use the amount in my dog treat recipes to bake homemade dog treats, your dog will not be eating just baking powder. Plus, the baking powder changes when it is in a baked treat. However, one of the nice things about making your own treats is making them the way you want. So, please feel free to omit the baking powder. :)
