Made them for my pups birthday and he loved them!

by Katie

I tried them first with a mini cupcake pan because a regular size cupcake just seemed really big. The mini cupcake pan worked out well.

I also used the cream cheese icing recipe, but the icing turned out a little chunky. I didn't add any flour because it was a pretty thick mixture. I even tried adding a bit of water to thin it down but no luck... still chunky. It was tasty though.

I tried the muffin/cupcake myself and it wasn't really my thing, but my dog totally digs these!

Four paws up!

I made this on my dogs birthday and he loved it. I mashed one up and put frosting on it. He ate it all!

Absolute winner!

Absolutely a winner with not only the furry dogs of the household but with the humans too - I can foresee I will not be able to keep up with demand LOL.

I made my own apple sauce (as the commercial bottled ones are full of sugar): 1 large apple makes just the right amount needed for this recipe. Peel, core, then slice the apple into a cup with 1 desert spoon of water, into the microwave for 2 minutes, then a few seconds in the blender.

Fresh cherries are also impossible to find where I live, so I used the bottled cooking cherries sold here (there is luckily a brand with no additives or sugar) - just remember to drain them well or the muffins will be too soft.

All in all I give this recipe full marks and then some - easy and quick to make, tasty for humans (if you're not into saccharine sweet commercial stuff) as well as dogs and an extremely healthy snack for everyone.

Can also use a different fruit in these dog treats!

I used this recipe to first make the Cherry Muffins, but then replaced the cherries with sliced frozen strawberries and I've made them with blueberries also! Ace loves them along with all my co-workers dogs! HUGE HIT!

Chef's Comments ~ That's wonderful! I'm so glad that you are experimenting with my dog treat recipes. I'm also so happy to hear that all of those dogs loved the treats. :)
