Low Calorie Dog Biscuits

I made the dog biscuits for my overweight girl tonight and she absolutely loved them. I have to admit I tasted a piece of one just to see what it tasted like and they are really good!

I did make them a bit thinner, not that they needed to be, but that way she can have two (2).

I will be making this recipe for friends with fur babies also! Good job! Thank you for sharing this recipe!

So Great

My Dog Loved These! And They Were Fun to Make, too. Every time we take the ingredients out for these, my dog's mouth literally waters!

Not crispy?

by Deb

My dogs love this treat. However, I can't make them crispy! I leave in the oven overnight and still chewy! What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Chef's Answer ~ First, I'm glad to hear that your dogs love this dog treat. That's the most important thing. :)

I would recommend trying to dry out the finished treat in the oven at 200 degrees. Put the treats on a wire rack, then place the wire rack into a baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in the oven and check it every 30 minutes until they are dry enough for you.

What Can I Substitute Oats With?

My dog is allergic to oats. What can I substitute the oats with in the carrot and banana dog treat recipe? She can't have oat, wheat, flax, barley or pork. I use a rice flour in her treats now. I would love to make this treat for her.

Chef's Answer ~ You can substitute the oats in this recipe for quinoa flakes, buckwheat groats or hulled millet.

All of these substitutions are wheat and gluten free.
