Mixed Tocopherol in Dog Treats

by Debra U.
(Utah)

I understand the benefits of using a natural preservative like mixed tocopherol, but how much do you typically add to a recipe? I have all these great recipes, but I don't know how much to add to help extend the shelf life. Are there any guidelines you can share with me?

Chef's Answer ~ Check out a couple of these previously answered questions to see if they are what you're looking for. If not, please come back and ask again. There's an answer out there for every dog treat baking question, it's just a matter of finding it! :)

The first Q & A is about using mixed tocopherols in homemade dog treats.

The second one is specifically about liver dog treats, but it has a lot of other information regarding keeping dog treats fresh and extending their shelf life.

Let me know if you still have questions.
