Have you heard of the everlasting treats you put in a dog toy?

I want to find a DIY version because my dog loves those but they're kind of expensive.

It wouldn't be so bad if they actually were a bit more everlasting but my dog can eat one in like 20 minutes haha. So i'm looking for a hard dog treat that I can somehow get to that shape and stick in his toy. Do you have any hard recipes similar to what that is?

Chef's Answer ~ Yes, I know the treat and treat refills that you are referring to. Unfortunately I do not have a recipe or a way of making those types of hard treats. The ingredients are pressed into a hard shape and I have yet to figure out how to do that at home.

If your dog is an aggressive chewer, I would highly recommend buying antler dog chews. One chew will last for a very long time.

Another alternative is to make biscotti style dog treats, like my pumpkin biscotti dog treats. This style of dog treat is twice baked which makes it hard and takes longer to chew through.

I hope this helps. :)
