chicken wrapped yams
by: Anonymous

I parboiled the yams then wrapped thin strips of raw chicken and dehydrated for 6 hours. parboiling helps the yams stay moist so they do not get too crispy, then store in air tight container in the fridge. I was concerned about the treats from china and the antibiotics found in the chicken. My 2 little chihuahuas love them, as well as plain beef jerky as a treat. Compare the costs of dog treats to do it yourself and you will save money and a dehydrator is good for many other uses in the kitchen.

Wrapping chicken around the sweet potato for dog treats
by: Anonymous

When you wrapped the chicken around the sweet potato, did you do it when the chicken was still raw?

Chef's Comments ~ Thanks for your question. This suggestion is from another website visitor. If I had to guess I would say that yes, you wrap the chicken around a chunk of sweet potato while it is raw.

You can cut thin slices of chicken when it is partially frozen. Just be sure to use safe food handling techniques when making these homemade dog treats. :)
