What baking techniques can you use to create a smooth biscuit?

I have one recipe that contains cream cheese and dried cheeses. When I first take them out of the oven, they look good. When I put them back in the oven for 3-4 hours on low heat, they come out very dried and wrinkled.

How can I get a smooth and good looking biscuit?

Chef's Answer ~ Before I can help, I have a question, why do you return the dog treats to an oven for so long?

My first thought is to cut out the extra baking time, since you said they look the way you want when you first take them out of the oven.

The second thought is to lower the extra baking time and/or the temperature. For example, try 2 hours at 180° F.

You can make a regular batch, then test different amounts of time and temperature on a few cookies at a time, if the treats need the extra baking time.

I hope this helps. Happy Dog Treat Baking! :)

Smooth Dog Biscuits

Thank you for your quick response! I very much appreciate it.

I have been baking the biscuits at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, letting them cool, and putting them back in a warm oven to try to dry them out to prevent mold.

I will try your suggestion of baking at a low temperature for a much longer time.

In fact, I will try a new batch today!
