What can be used in lieu of the cornmeal?

by Westie Resceu Austin

We have dogs that are sensitive to corn and wheat but would like to try this recipe. We usually use garbanzo bean flour but wonder what the appropriate substitute would be for the cornmeal.

Chef's Answer ~ The cornmeal is in this recipe to create a texture and add a binding ingredient.

Since there is only 1/2 cup to substitute, you could substitute it for 1/2 cup of Garbanzo bean flour. If you'd like to add some texture, and your dogs can have rolled oats, I would recommend using 1/4 cup of Garbanzo bean flour and 1/4 cup of rolled oats.
