Is there such a thing as diabetic dog treats?

My dog has an issue with his glucose being low, I was wanting to continue a treat regimen but am worried that they may not be good for him.

Chef's Answer ~ First and foremost, consult your Veterinarian, she will know best what treats your dog should have.

OK, that being said, yes, diabetic dog treats exist. If you want to make your own, why not start with an easy dog treat recipe like the Chicken Jerky recipe. Or, if you dog is on a prescribed diet, you could check out the ideas and recipes on Dog Food Treats for some variety.

To mix things up, you can also use raw carrots, green beans or even broccoli as a treat. Or, if you want to buy treats, look for those formulated for overweight dogs. They are typically OK for diabetic dogs.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. :)
