Is there a dog treat that I can make to help dry itchy skin?

My new puppy has dry itchy skin that really bothers her. Is there a treat that I can make that will help that?

Chef's Answer ~ Hi Teana, thank you so much for sharing a picture of your precious new puppy Raven!

If your puppy's dry itchy skin is caused by dog skin allergies, the best thing to do is eliminate or minimize the source of those allergies. You can do that by going to your local vet or holistic vet to determine what could be causing the dry skin. It could be nutritional, environmental or even parasites, like fleas. If there is a major underlying source of the dry itchy skin, a treat alone will not help relieve her symptoms.

All that being said, look for dog treat recipes with sunflower oil, flax seed and omega 3 fatty acids. All of these will help moisturize her skin from the inside out. One recipe with omega 3's is our Salmon Cakes. It's simple to make, and it's sure to be your dog's favorite with it's delicious salmon aroma.
