Doggy Birthday Cake

1 cup flour (I use whole wheat)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup canola oil
1 cup shredded carrots ( or 1 smashed very ripe banana)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1 egg

Frosting
1 container vanilla or banana yogurt (Yoplait thick & creamy works best)

Beat egg. Add oil, vanilla, honey, and peanut butter and mix well. Stir in carrots (or banana). Add flour & baking soda and mix well. Spread into greased 8 inch pan (round or square)
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Frost with yogurt when cooled

I've also made this with shredded apple instead of the carrots, & also with fresh baked or canned pumpkin puree. My Dalmatians love all 4 varieties. I'll also add homemade dog biscuits as cake toppers

Murphy's 3rd Birthday
by: Anonymous

Found this cake online when I was looking for easy recipes for my dogs birthday today. This was easy and I had all the ingredients, which is always a plus. The dogs just got done eating some and they absolutely LOVED it! I made the easy dog biscuits as well and I have enough for the rest of the week! Awesome and thank you for helping make my Murphy's day special! (Wish I could post pictures!!)

Subing the flour..
by: Anonymous

Is it possible to sub soy flour or almond flour for the whole wheat? Would any changes need to be made?

Editors Remarks ~ Thanks for your question. This is not our personal recipe, but with most dog treat recipes you can substitute the whole wheat flour. If possible I would use a half and half combination of the soy and almond flour as your substitute. Almond "flour" is really ground blanched almonds and it benefits by being combined with another actual flour.

I hope this helps! :)

The temperature (F) is for a regular gas or an electric oven. According to the site below, the temperature should be lowered by 25 degrees (F) for a fan forced electric. Hope this helps, ;-)

Doggy Birthday Cake - Oven Temp?
by: Anonymous

Thank you for this wonderful recipe. I haven't tried it yet, as I need to know please, if the oven temp. is for FAN FORCED electric?

If not, can you please advise/suggest best temp. for an electric fan forced oven?

Just that I want to get it right - my first time.

Thank you so much.
