Dog treat bars instead of cookies?

by Marguerite

I am in search of recipes that I can cut into bars instead of cutting into cookie shapes.

Chef's Answer ~ A very simple solution is to make a dog treat recipe for dog cookies like normal, and then when it comes time to roll and cut out the cookies, you would use a pan instead.

You'll probably want to use an 8 x 8 pan, or maybe a 9 x 9. I don't think most dog treat recipes make a large enough batch to properly fill a 13 x 9 pan. Spray the pan with your favorite baking spray and then spread the mixture into the pan. You'll need to push the dough around to fill the pan and level it off so it will bake evenly.

Speaking of baking, you'll also need to adjust the baking time. My guess would be to bake the dog treat "bars" for an additional 10 minutes. Or, you can bake them the specified time, take them out, and let them cool to the touch. Then slice them in the pan and put them back in the oven to continue to cook and dry to your desired consistency.

I hope that helps. Happy Dog Treat Baking! :)
