Can white chocolate be used as dog treat frosting?

by Ronnie
(Long Island NY)

I want to make holiday cookies for a few friends' pets. In my local pet store I have seen cupcakes and doughnuts with a frosting, I read online many treats use white chocolate, if this is a usable ingredient, should it be unsweetened?

Chef's Answer ~ Yes, white chocolate can be used as a dog treat frosting. Unlike regular chocolate, white chocolate has an extremely small amount (if any) theobromine, the unhealthy ingredient for dogs.

I have never seen unsweetened white chocolate chips, but if you can find them, it would be preferred. You can also purchase yogurt chips, melt these and drizzle over your homemade dog treats.

Happy Dog Treat Baking! :)
