Can I use Chicken Base in a dog treat recipe to add flavor?

by Donna

I want to make my recipes, but want them to taste different. Was wondering if I could us the Chicken Base powder that I bought, to do this.

Chef's Answer ~ Most chicken base powders have onion powder in them, so this would be dangerous for your dog. Please review the list of foods poisonous to dogs to learn of other ingredients that should be avoided.

If you have found an onion free chicken base, that would be fine to add. Just keep in mind that these powders typically have excess salt and MSG, and these are ingredients that you would not want to add to your homemade dog treats.

To add flavor to your dog treats, make your own dog safe chicken broth.

Happy Dog Treat Baking! :)
