Gina, the dog that can't wait

Regards the apple carrot cookies, we found that apple sauce can easily be made at home by steaming apples. However, it's best to remove the skin - easy when the apples are cooked. Also, the carrots really need to be fine, best slightly cooked and pureed. Mashing the ingredients makes the dough really smooth and easy to cut. The cookies are yummy, for the dogs and their humans.

We've already tried the sweet potato chews, the turkey cookies (by replacing the turkey with canned salmon) and the pumpkin peanut butter cookies. They didn't survive the afternoon.

The first batch was stolen by dog Gina (see picture). The second was eaten by her and her brother, and the third batch ended up in the stomach three humans who munched them for coffee. Too bad for the dogs...

Homemade apple sauce substitution
by: Anonymous

I am all for the home made substitutions, more than half of my dogs' treats and food is made by me with ingredients fit for human consumption. With Apples you have to especially be careful of the seeds.

Just so you know my dogs do eat way better than I do, but they deserve it.
