Make your own oat flour

by Maxie's Mom

A few years back I was in charge of the recipe page for a small newspaper. One of my favorite recipes is still Oat Pancakes made by putting regular oats in a blender and making the flour. I have used this process for making oat flour as a substitute for wheat flour in a couple of dog treat recipes. It works just fine and the dogs love it with no tummy aches from allergies.

Works great! NEW

I didn't see your comment originally, but when I went to make dog treats for my boys, (one with allergies) I thought I'd try blending up the oats with my magic bullet and making a flour substitute. It came out nice and fine! I might even try this for human cookies! I did note a little more gumminess but with a few small adjustments to recipes its not a problem at all.

Wheat flour substitute NEW
by: Arlene

I purchase a large container of oats; process it in the blender and return the "flour" to the original canister - well marked, of course. I use this to replace wheat flour which my choc. lab, Daisy, is allergic to.
